Wood ear mushrooms grow around hardwood in the winter and spring months. Their pleasant jelly-like texture and neutral taste makes them perfect for boiling & stir frying, as they readily absorb whatever flavor you cook them in.
The most common dishes that employ this fascinating fungus are ramen, stir fry, salads, or as added texture in a sauteed mushroom mix!
Soak in warm water for about 20 minutes or until fully rehydrated. Boil in water for 1 minute and then shock in cold water to achieve a more crunchy texture.
