Chaga is a slow growing, long-living (10-20 years!) fungus that can easily be mistaken for a mass of tree bark upon first glance. It can be found growing on a variety of trees, birch being the most common, in colder climates of the Northern hemisphere. It is rich in antioxidants and is considered an adaptogen. Chaga is said to help support the immune, digestive, and nervous systems. It is a highly sought after medicinal mushroom, with a taste resembling coffee when brewed into tea.
Our suggestion is to make a batch of strong Chaga tea. Using a crockpot or instant pot on a low/medium setting for about 24 hours works well. Then you can freeze the tea in an ice cube tray and add those cubes to your beverages throughout the week!
To get the most of your Chaga’s health benefits we suggest making a liquid (tincture) or powder extract. More info on that coming soon!
